A Message from Our Founder: Looking Out for Each Other

October 9th, 2026

A message from our founder, Sami Robertson, on mental health, outdoor swimming and the importance of looking out for one another.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day – which feels like a good moment to say something that’s easy to leave unsaid.

The property industry is going through a difficult period. Agents are under pressure to secure deals. Clients are weighing up big decisions in an uncertain market. Large firms and small independent agencies are facing their own challenges, often with the same need to keep going, keep working and make ends meet.

That pressure can take a real toll. And when you’re trying to keep your head above water, it isn’t always possible to find the time or space to look after yourself.

I’ve been fortunate to find something that helps me. Swimming outdoors and being part of the Serpentine Swimming Club has given me a sense of perspective, connection and clarity that I didn’t know I needed. That’s why WILDPOOL is so important to me: it brings people together through outdoor swimming and the community around it. There’s something so powerful about showing up for one another, whatever the weather.

I know that’s not an option for everyone, and everyone finds their own way through. What we can all do is look out for each other. Check in with colleagues. Make room for an honest conversation. Remember that asking how someone really is can matter more than we think.

If you’re finding things difficult and would like a chat, I’m always happy to make time for a call. There’s no agenda, just a conversation.

We’re stronger when we support one another.
